Basic EMT – Emergency Medical Technician (Fire Department)

About the role

The Basic EMT provides essential emergency medical care and fire‑department support at a base in Kuwait. The role involves responding to fire, medical and related emergency calls, delivering basic life‑support treatment, and safely transporting patients to medical facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls, provide Basic Life Support (BLS) in accordance with EMS protocols, and transport patients to designated facilities.
• Maintain fire‑department vehicles and equipment in a ready condition and participate in fire‑alarm communications and dispatch duties.
• Assist Paramedics in assessing injuries or illnesses, prioritize care, and support ongoing medical education as both instructor and student.
• Communicate effectively via radio, telephone and written reports, and perform additional tasks assigned by the Fire Chief or Base Commander.

Required profile

• High school diploma (associate degree preferred); U.S. citizenship; CAC eligibility; ability to obtain a host‑nation driver’s license.
• Minimum two years experience on an emergency response ambulance and in an emergency health‑care setting.
• Good standing with certifying organizations and ability to maintain certifications throughout employment.
• Physical ability to lift 45 lb, handle patients over 100 lb, and work in extreme weather conditions.

Required skills

• National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification.
• CPR/BLS/AED certification.
• Firefighter I & II, Hazardous Materials Operations, Airport Firefighter Driver/Operator, Pumper Driver/Operator, Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Driver/Operator, Mobile Water Supply Telecommunicator I/II certifications.
• Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
