Banquet Captain

About the role

The Banquet Captain leads the on‑floor banquet team, ensuring each event runs smoothly from set‑up through breakdown. Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, you will anticipate needs, resolve issues discreetly, and uphold the luxury standards of the IHG brand.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all banquet service activities during events.
• Serve as the main on‑floor liaison for clients, handling requests and concerns professionally.
• Lead, train, and motivate banquet associates to deliver consistent, high‑quality service.
• Conduct pre‑event briefings and post‑event reviews with service teams.
• Allocate staffing efficiently based on event requirements and business levels.
• Set function rooms according to Banquet Event Orders, including table layouts, décor, AV, and special requests.
• Collaborate closely with Culinary, Stewarding, Sales, and AV teams.
• Monitor service timing, food quality, presentation, and beverage service throughout events.
• Enforce hygiene, health, safety, and sanitation standards.
• Handle guest feedback, escalating when necessary, and support inventory control and equipment handling.
• Assist the Banquet Manager with reports, staffing schedules, and performance feedback.
