About the role

The Director of the Office of Faculty Affairs leads the university’s strategic effort to create an environment where faculty can thrive throughout their academic careers. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the role shapes policies, programmes, and governance structures that support faculty success, academic quality, and institutional effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive institutional strategy that supports faculty success across the entire academic career lifecycle.
• Establish and coordinate mentoring programmes for new, early‑career, international, and newly promoted faculty.
• Coordinate faculty orientation and academic transition activities in partnership with Human Resources and the Centre for Teaching & Learning.
• Promote interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty across all schools.
• Design and implement programmes that foster faculty engagement, belonging, and wellbeing.
• Organise faculty networking events, retreats, academic forums, and other engagement initiatives.
• Collaborate with relevant offices to support faculty wellbeing and work‑life balance.
• Facilitate clear communication between Academic Affairs and faculty members.
• Serve as an accessible resource for faculty seeking guidance on academic policies and procedures.
• Champion an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative academic culture.
• Coordinate faculty recognition and appreciation initiatives.
• Develop and analyse faculty engagement and satisfaction surveys to inform retention strategies.
• Analyse institutional trends affecting faculty wellbeing and engagement.
• Lead faculty leadership retreats and communities of academic practice.
• Support international faculty transition, integration, and cross‑school collaboration.
• Oversee annual faculty engagement programmes and related activities.
