Fresh Category Manager

About the role

We are looking for a Fresh Category Manager to lead the strategy and procurement of our fresh product range, including fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood and dairy. The role combines market analysis, supplier management and cross‑functional collaboration to maximise sales, profitability and product freshness.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies and procurement plans for the fresh range.
• Analyse market trends, consumer demand and competitor activity to optimise assortment and pricing.
• Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, control costs and optimise supply‑chain channels.
• Monitor inventory levels, product turnover and waste, and design promotional programmes to improve turnover.
• Collaborate with procurement, logistics, marketing and other teams to ensure product quality, availability and effective promotion.
• Stay informed on industry regulations, policies and best practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
• Lead, coach and develop the category team to enhance capabilities and efficiency.

Required profile

• Proven experience in category management, procurement or supply‑chain roles within the fresh food sector.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and translate it into actionable plans.
• Excellent negotiation and relationship‑building abilities with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Good understanding of inventory management, waste reduction and promotional planning.
• Leadership experience with a track record of developing and motivating teams.
