Generator Technician / Diesel Mechanic & Heavy Driver

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Generator Technician / Diesel Mechanic who can also perform heavy driving duties. The role involves maintaining, repairing, and commissioning diesel generators ranging from 30 KVA to 2000 KVA in an industrial environment in Kuwait.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel generators of various capacities.
• Inspect, service, and repair diesel‑powered equipment and vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system faults.
• Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, filter replacement, and overhaul of engines, alternators, radiators, fuel and cooling systems.
• Troubleshoot starting, charging, governor, and voltage regulation issues.
• Test generator performance under load and ensure stable voltage and frequency.
• Install, commission, and de‑commission generator sets.
• Maintain battery systems, chargers, control panels, and Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) systems.
• Replace defective components such as injectors, fuel pumps, turbochargers, belts, hoses, and sensors.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and spare‑parts inventory.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns to minimise equipment downtime.
• Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety procedures.
• Coordinate with operations teams to schedule maintenance activities and maintain workshop housekeeping standards.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of experience in diesel generator maintenance and repair.
• Valid Kuwaiti driving licence (preferred) and residency visa with local transfer.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure during emergency breakdowns.
• Commitment to workplace safety and preventive maintenance.

Required skills

• Strong troubleshooting and fault‑finding abilities.
• Knowledge of diesel engines and alternators.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Experience with generator brands such as Perkins, Cummins, Caterpillar, FG Wilson, Atlas Copco, Volvo Penta, MTU.
• Familiarity with engine control modules (ECM) and diagnostic tools.
