Lead Safety Engineer – Principal HSE Specialist

About the role

Worley is seeking a Lead Safety Engineer to drive health, safety and environmental (HSE) excellence across its oil, gas and petrochemical projects. The role will shape HSE strategy, ensure regulatory compliance and embed sustainability into daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain HSE policies and procedures.
• Create and manage project risk registers and conduct comprehensive risk assessments.
• Deliver HSE training, investigate incidents and lead root‑cause analyses.
• Monitor and report key HSE performance metrics such as incident rates and compliance levels.
• Collaborate with all departments to integrate HSE considerations into operational processes.
• Ensure adherence to local and international safety standards and norms.
• Drive sustainability initiatives to reduce environmental impact and promote resource conservation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Experience in the oil & gas, refinery or petrochemical industry covering design, construction, commissioning and maintenance of installations.
• Hands‑on experience with HSE management systems, reporting and audit procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to develop, update and maintain in‑house HSE procedures.
• Two or more recognized HSE certifications (e.g., General Industrial Safety, Construction Safety).
