Professor of Electrical Engineering and Robotics

About the role

American International University (AIU), a private institution in Kuwait founded in 2019, is recruiting a Full Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Robotics. The position reports to the Dean of the School of Engineering and Computing and is based in Kuwait City. The successful candidate will be an innovative academic, active scholar and educator who integrates emerging technologies and current industry practice into teaching and research.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate Electrical Engineering and Robotics courses and run engaging laboratory experiences.
• Contribute to teaching, curriculum development, student success and academic service, and coordinate assigned courses consistently.
• Develop, review and improve curricula, course materials and assessment strategies.
• Supervise capstone projects, design projects and student research, and mentor students.
• Maintain an active research agenda through peer-reviewed publications and collaboration.
• Take part in departmental, school and university committees and help prepare for regional and international accreditation, including ABET.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a closely related field.
• Eligibility for appointment as Professor under AIU's faculty criteria.
• Prior teaching experience at undergraduate and/or graduate level, and evidence of student-centered teaching and sound assessment.
• Experience developing curricula, supervising design and capstone projects, and mentoring students.
• Established research record with peer-reviewed publications.
• Experience in departmental, school and university service and familiarity with accreditation processes such as ABET.
• Excellent English communication skills; Arabic is an asset but not required.

Required skills

• Demonstrated expertise in robotics, especially hardware-integrated systems.
• Knowledge of core Electrical Engineering principles.
• Preferred: robotics, cyber-physical systems, PLCs, image processing, robot vision, intelligent robotic systems and industrial automation.
