Professor of Graphic Design – Illustration & Printmaking

About the role

The School of Architecture and Design at AIU seeks a full‑time faculty member in Graphic Design at the rank of Full Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor. The position focuses on Illustration and Printmaking, combining studio teaching, research, and professional creative practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate studio and lecture courses in traditional and digital illustration, as well as printmaking processes such as screen printing, relief, intaglio, and experimental techniques.
• Develop and update curriculum to align with industry standards and accreditation requirements, supervise capstone projects, and guide students in portfolio development.
• Maintain an active research or professional creative practice, publish, exhibit, and pursue external funding where applicable.
• Participate in departmental committees, accreditation activities, student recruitment, outreach, and mentorship.

Required profile

• Master of Fine Arts or PhD in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Illustration, Printmaking or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum five years of university‑level teaching experience in studio‑based illustration or printmaking.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating professional or research‑based work in illustration and printmaking.
• Evidence of peer‑reviewed publications, exhibitions, or recognized professional practice.

Required skills

• Proficiency in traditional printmaking techniques (screen printing, relief, intaglio, experimental).
• Advanced use of Adobe Creative Cloud and other digital illustration platforms.
• Ability to integrate digital design software with print workflows.
