Quality Engineer – Fresh Produce

About the role

The Quality Engineer will develop, maintain and enforce quality and acceptance standards for fresh produce, including fruits, vegetables, meat and seafood. This role ensures compliance with industry regulations and company policies while driving continuous improvement across the supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update quality standards for all fresh produce categories.
• Conduct inspections and audits of incoming, stored, processed and shipped products.
• Identify product issues, communicate with procurement and coordinate corrective actions.
• Analyze customer complaints and return data to uncover trends and implement improvement measures.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to align on quality expectations.
• Implement safety protocols and 5S practices to maintain a clean, safe working environment.
• Support headquarters projects such as storage‑picking separation and packaging enhancements.
• Provide training and professional guidance to the quality control team.
• Manage daily schedules, task assignments and performance evaluations for the team.

Required profile

• Experience in quality control or assurance within the food or fresh‑produce sector.
• Strong analytical abilities to interpret complaint and return data.
• Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with procurement, suppliers and internal departments.
• Leadership experience in managing and developing a quality team.
• Knowledge of safety standards, 5S methodology and audit processes.
