Red Switch Technician I

About the role

The Red Switch Technician I is responsible for operating and maintaining the Digital Small Switch (DRSN) facility in line with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) regulations. The role supports mission‑critical communications for military and government users, ensuring secure and reliable voice services.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the Digital Small Switch DSS‑2A, monitoring trunk and circuit outages.
• Perform trunk‑dialing checks each shift and after any failure.
• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and system checks every two hours.
• Create, update, and back up databases using CD‑R media; download configuration updates.
• Fabricate custom interface cables according to wiring diagrams.
• Escort authorized personnel accessing the Red Switch and report outages to DISA and V2X management.
• Log activities in the Master Station Log and prepare call‑detail reports.
• Contribute to weekly status reports and coordinate with Raytheon, DISA, and local offices.

Required profile

• Legal eligibility to work in the host country, including visa and driver’s license.
• Ability to train subscribers on phone instrument features and security requirements.
• Report to the Red Switch Supervisor and collaborate with multiple agencies.
