About the role
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join Egis’ operations team in Kuwait, focusing on the design, installation, and optimisation of mechanical systems for port and marine infrastructure. The role involves leading a multidisciplinary team to ensure equipment reliability, safety compliance, and operational excellence in a dynamic maritime environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and oversee installation of mechanical systems and equipment for port infrastructure, including cargo handling machinery, conveyor systems, and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
- Conduct detailed technical analyses and troubleshoot mechanical failures, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to minimise downtime.
- Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Manage preventive and predictive maintenance programmes to optimise equipment performance and extend asset lifespan.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation such as design specifications, maintenance manuals and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure all mechanical systems comply with international regulations, industry standards (IMCA, ISO) and local Kuwait regulations.
- Collaborate with operations, procurement and safety departments to coordinate equipment upgrades and maintenance schedules.
- Evaluate vendor proposals and manage relationships with equipment suppliers and contractors.
- Conduct risk assessments and HAZOP analyses for mechanical installations.
Required profile
- Senior‑level experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within ports or marine environments.
- Proven ability to lead and develop engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of international safety standards (IMCA, ISO) and local regulatory requirements.
- Extensive experience with preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Demonstrated expertise in technical analysis, troubleshooting and root‑cause resolution.
- Ability to produce detailed technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Experience working cross‑functionally with operations, procurement and safety teams.
- Vendor management and procurement evaluation experience.
- Competence in conducting risk assessments and HAZOP studies.
