Accounts Assistant

About the role

The Accounts Assistant supports the finance team by recording daily accounting transactions, maintaining ledger accuracy, and assisting with bank and inventory reconciliations. This position contributes to the short‑ and medium‑term financial goals of the business unit.

Key responsibilities

• Record transactions in the General Ledger and subsidiary ledgers promptly.
• Prepare banking documents such as daily deposit slips, letters of credit, payments, and cheques.
• Assist with monthly bank, general ledger, and sub‑ledger reconciliations.
• Support inter‑unit reconciliations, inventory verification, and cash handling.
• Tag fixed assets and aid physical verification processes.
• Maintain the document management system according to company policy.
• Prepare debit and credit notes for customers and suppliers and send account statements.
• Collect and analyse data for timely reporting.
• Communicate with internal and external parties to manage daily tasks.
• Contribute ideas to improve daily task efficiency and assist with onboarding new employees when needed.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting or Commerce from a reputable institution.
• 1–2 years of experience in an accounting environment.
• Age between 22 and 25 years.
• Strong business communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
