Accountant (AP / Fixed Assets)

About the role

The Accountant (AP / Fixed Assets) runs an accurate, timely and well-controlled payables cycle and maintains a complete fixed asset register, so that liabilities, VAT and assets are fairly stated in line with IFRS. The role covers accounts payable, fixed assets, month-end close, audit support and related-party transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Accounts payable: process supplier and subconsultant invoices through three-way matching, resolve exceptions with procurement and project teams, record retentions, advances and recoveries, and maintain the vendor master with independent verification of bank changes.
• Prepare monthly payment proposals by the due date, reconcile with Treasury after each payment run, reconcile supplier statements monthly and book month-end accruals.
• Prepare AP ageing reports and cash requirement forecasts, and reconcile the AP sub-ledger to the general ledger.
• Maintain the fixed asset register in the ERP and reconcile it to the GL monthly, review additions against the capitalisation policy and IAS 16, track CWIP and run monthly depreciation.
• Record disposals, write-offs and transfers with proper approvals, coordinate annual physical verification and asset tagging, and maintain IFRS 16 right-of-use assets and lease liabilities.
• Flag impairment indicators under IAS 36, post related-party transactions and prepare monthly related-party reconciliations, and prepare audit schedules and answer auditor queries.
• Uphold segregation of duties and identify process improvements and automation opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5-7 years' experience in AP and fixed assets, at least 3 years in the GCC.
• Working knowledge of GCC VAT, IAS 16, IAS 36 and IFRS 16.
• Experience in AEC, contracting or projects-based businesses preferred; part-qualified CA, CMA, ACCA or CPA preferred.

Required skills

• ERP experience (Microsoft Dynamics / Oracle / SAP) including AP and FA modules.
• Advanced Excel and strong reconciliation skills.
• Effective with procurement, project and supplier contacts.
