Airline Dispatcher – Flight Operations

About the role

The Dispatcher ensures that each flight operates safely and efficiently by monitoring weather, aircraft status, and flight plans from departure to arrival. Working closely with pilots and ground crews, the Dispatcher plays a critical role in flight safety and operational control.

Key responsibilities

• Share joint responsibility with the pilot in command for flight safety and operational control.
• Authorize, regulate, control, and terminate aircraft flights in line with company and governmental regulations.
• Review weather information, compute fuel requirements, and evaluate maintenance limitations to select the safest and most economical route.
• Prepare and sign the dispatch release, a legal document authorizing flight departure.
• Monitor aircraft position reports, weather updates, and navigation charts throughout the flight.
• Advise pilots of significant changes and recommend adjustments to the flight plan.
• Assist pilots during emergencies to ensure safe completion of the flight.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
• Active FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate.
• Minimum two years of aircraft scheduling or dispatch experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance.

Required skills

• FAA Aircraft Dispatcher certification.
