Aquarist – In‑store & Customer Aquarium Specialist

About the role

The Aquarist is responsible for maintaining all in‑store aquariums and providing aquarium maintenance services for customers. This position blends hands‑on fish and coral care, aquascaping, disease treatment, and sales support to ensure healthy, attractive displays and satisfied customers.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain freshwater, saltwater, reef and planted aquariums in the store, performing water tests, changes and cleaning.
• Care for fish, corals and invertebrates, including acclimation, feeding, health monitoring and quarantine.
• Identify and treat common fish diseases using appropriate medications.
• Design and maintain aquascapes, arranging rocks, driftwood, sand, plants and corals.
• Provide on‑call and scheduled aquarium maintenance at residential and commercial locations.
• Sell fish, aquarium equipment and supplies while offering knowledgeable advice to customers.

Required profile

• Knowledge of freshwater and saltwater aquarium systems, including reef and planted tanks.
• Understanding of fish diseases, treatments and quarantine procedures.
• Ability to communicate clearly and deliver excellent customer service.
• Capacity to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Valid driver’s license for customer visits.
