C-17 Field Services Customer Engineer

About the role

Boeing is hiring a C-17 Field Services Customer Engineer to be based at Al-Mubarak Air Base in Kuwait. The engineer joins the on-site C-17 Field Services Engineering and Technical Support (FETS) team that supports the Kuwait Air Force customer, working directly with them to give real-time, time-critical assistance at the point of delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Help resolve complex operational problems, coordinating with the Kuwait customer and other Boeing entities.
• Provide troubleshooting and repair guidance to the customer.
• Assist in interpreting technical documents so their intent is understood and followed.
• Deliver on-the-job training, explaining theory of operations and demonstrating operating, maintenance, servicing and troubleshooting procedures.
• Pursue actions needed to safely support Kuwait missions, including spares supply and support equipment.
• Document field site activities by preparing and transmitting publication change requests, continuous process improvement data and technical reports.
• Support other regional and worldwide C-17 customers; travel to other operating locations may be required.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or a non-US equivalent directly related to the work.
• Proven background supporting an aviation product in the field, with experience on C-17 or similar widebody fleet aircraft.
• Enrolled in a United States Air Force-sanctioned C-17 Delegated Engineering Authority (DEA) program, which takes about 2-4 years depending on prior experience.
• Able to work independently under time constraints and stress in an on-call, around-the-clock environment.

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of non-destructive inspection, circuits, CAD and reading engineering drawings.
• Background in electrical/avionics or mechanical/airframe repair, and in troubleshooting complex integrated systems.
• Excellent communication skills, strong customer focus and a flexible, collaborative approach.
