Chief Accountant

About the role

The Chief Accountant will lead and oversee the full accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with IFRS and Kuwait regulations. This senior role involves managing a team, handling project accounting, and supporting the CFO in strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, GL, payroll, and inventory control.
• Plan and execute monthly, quarterly, and year‑end closing processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analyses.
• Oversee project accounting, job costing, WIP, and profitability reporting.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, Kuwait statutory and tax requirements, and manage external audits.
• Develop and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including senior supervisory roles.
• Significant experience in construction, contracting or other project‑based businesses.
• Proven ability to lead and develop an accounting team.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of IFRS and Kuwait accounting standards.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Bilingual Arabic and English communication.
