Claims Manager

About the role

The Claims Manager is responsible for leading the end‑to‑end claims function across Motor and Property & Casualty lines. The role ensures claims are processed accurately, fairly and within agreed turnaround times while protecting the company’s exposure, reputation and customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise Motor and Property & Casualty claims teams, ensuring implementation of claims strategy, procedures and service standards.
• Oversee end‑to‑end handling of motor claims, including accident assessment, damage evaluation, repair cost validation, salvage and total loss settlements.
• Manage Property & Casualty claims from notification through settlement, coordinating surveys, loss adjusters and technical assessments.
• Own and track all claims under litigation, maintaining a structured log of legal cases, court dates and required actions.
• Liaise with lawyers, courts and external legal advisors on disputed and litigated claims, reviewing legal opinions and settlement recommendations.
• Review and validate reserves on motor, P&C and legal claims, adjusting estimates as cases develop.
• Investigate handling delays and bottlenecks, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Perform quality assurance and compliance reviews on claims files, ensuring adherence to internal authority matrices, regulatory requirements and reinsurance treaty conditions.
• Prepare and present large‑loss and litigated‑claims studies to senior management with recommendations on reserving, settlement strategy and recovery.
• Follow up on sub‑rogation and recovery actions, ensuring recoverable amounts from third parties, salvage and reinsurers are pursued.
• Manage relationships with agencies, garages, surveyors, loss adjusters, lawyers and other service providers, reviewing agreements and service levels.
• Build claims team capability through training and coaching on motor and P&C technical assessment and legal case management.
