Director, Office of Faculty Affairs

About the role

The American International University (AIU) in Kuwait is hiring a Director of the Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA), a director-level position reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The OFA is the university's hub for faculty success, academic engagement, career development, shared governance and faculty excellence, and works with more than 120 full-time faculty as well as adjunct, visiting and clinical faculty. The Director develops the office's policies, programmes, partnerships, operational culture and long-term direction, and acts as the university's principal academic administrator for faculty affairs.

Key responsibilities

• Build a strategy for faculty success across the academic career lifecycle, including mentoring programmes for new, early-career, international and newly promoted faculty, and orientation and transition activities.
• Run faculty engagement, networking, retreats, academic forums and annual engagement programmes, and support faculty wellbeing and retention.
• Develop and maintain faculty-related academic policies, advise Deans and Department Chairs on them, and maintain the Faculty Handbook.
• Support the Faculty Council, coordinate committee appointments and elections, and promote shared governance.
• Work with Human Resources, Deans, department chairs, the Centre for Teaching & Learning, the Office of Graduate Studies, the Office of Research and Scholarly Activity, the Registrar, Quality Assurance, Student Affairs and Library Services.
