Shipping Officer

About the role

The Shipping Officer acts as the central liaison between SCM Freight Forwarding, internal business units, finance teams, customs clearance, and external freight forwarding partners. This role ensures smooth, efficient shipping operations and timely document flow across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, collate, and dispatch required shipping documents from internal business units to external freight forwarders and shipping lines.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal units, advising on processes, policies, and timelines.
• Provide best‑in‑class service to overseas suppliers, applying problem‑solving to ensure fast response times.
• Coordinate with the internal Customs Clearing team, supplying necessary documents and issuing Bills of Entry within SLAs.
• Create daily payment advice for the Sahara Trans department and reconcile financial statements.
• Bill relevant business units and maintain records in SAP and the applicable ERP system.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (accounting preferred).
• 2‑3 years of experience in a similar shipping or logistics role.
• Functional competencies: Customer‑centric, Action‑oriented, Priority setting, Problem solving.
• Behavioral competencies: Strong communication skills and ability to build peer relationships.
