Substation Service Technician

About the role

As a Substation Service Technician at Hitachi Energy you will install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair Hitachi’s power‑grid equipment and systems, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on a variety of Hitachi equipment and systems.
• Test and maintain protection relays, signaling devices, metering instruments and contactors.
• Execute repairs and replace faulty components at substations, following Hitachi quality and safety standards.
• Provide technical support to customers, clearly explaining technical concepts.
• Document all service activities, including repairs, maintenance performed and parts used.
• Collaborate with engineering and sales teams to give feedback on product performance and customer needs.
• Participate in ongoing training to stay current with Hitachi product advancements.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in electrical engineering or a technical diploma.
• At least 2 years of experience as a service technician or in a similar technical support role.
• Experience with protection relay maintenance and testing.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with ability to read schematics and technical manuals.
• Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks and travel to customer sites.
