Full/Associate/Assistant Professor of Graphic Design

About the role

The School of Architecture and Design at AIU seeks a full‑time faculty member to teach Graphic Design at the rank of Full, Associate, or Assistant Professor. The candidate will specialize in illustration and printmaking, contributing to undergraduate education, curriculum development, and scholarly activity.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver studio and lecture courses in illustration and printmaking, covering traditional and digital techniques and visual storytelling.
• Integrate contemporary tools and hybrid methodologies that combine traditional print processes with digital platforms.
• Develop and update course content to meet industry standards and accreditation requirements.
• Supervise senior capstone projects and guide students in building professional portfolios.
• Maintain rigorous studio critique practices and structured assessment methods.
• Maintain an active research or professional creative practice, publish, exhibit, and pursue external funding where applicable.
• Participate in departmental, school, and university committees, accreditation activities, and community outreach.

Required profile

• PhD in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field; or MFA in Graphic Design, Illustration, or Printmaking from an accredited institution.
• Minimum five years of university‑level teaching experience with proven excellence in studio‑based instruction.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating professional and/or research‑based work in illustration and printmaking.
• Proficiency in traditional printmaking techniques and digital design software (Adobe Creative Cloud, illustration platforms, digital print workflows).
• Evidence of peer‑reviewed publications, exhibitions, or recognized professional practice.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
