Director of Foundation Program

About the role

The Foundation Program seeks an experienced Director to provide strategic academic and operational leadership, overseeing the English and Mathematics preparatory curriculum and ensuring students acquire the skills needed for successful transition into credit‑bearing courses.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the English and Mathematics preparatory programs, including study‑skills components.
• Lead development and implementation of program goals, procedures, and activities aligned with the Vice President for Academic Affairs and academic leadership.
• Manage course scheduling, faculty coordination, teaching assignments, and overall program logistics.
• Monitor student performance, progression, and retention data to inform continuous program improvement.
• Coordinate with Admissions, Academic Advising, Student Support and other units to facilitate student transition and progression.
• Oversee designated learning spaces, laboratories, instructional resources and other program‑related facilities.
• Promote continuous improvement in curriculum, teaching, assessment and student support.
• Prepare and maintain program reports, documentation and performance updates.
• Support faculty development, performance and instructional quality within the program.
• Represent the Foundation Program on relevant committees and contribute to university‑wide academic initiatives.
• Teach one course per semester, or as otherwise determined by the university.

Required profile

• PhD in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Mathematics, Education or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in higher education, preferably in foundation, preparatory or developmental education programs.
• Proven experience in academic leadership, program management and faculty coordination.
