Night Tool Pusher

About the role

The Night Tool Pusher supervises all drilling operations during the night shift, ensuring safe, efficient completion of wells while supporting or deputising for the Senior Tool Pusher. The role requires constant coordination with the driller, client representatives and the rig crew.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and control all night‑shift drilling activities, ensuring compliance with client well plans and safety procedures.
• Monitor well‑control parameters, perform calculations, and oversee any well‑killing or emergency response actions.
• Maintain equipment readiness, manage parts inventory, and ensure timely maintenance of draw‑works, mud pumps, top drive, rotary table and BOP.
• Prepare and approve drilling permits, JSA, PTW and post‑jarring documentation.
• Lead the rig’s Emergency Response Team, conduct safety drills and ensure all personnel are trained for emergencies.
• Mentor and develop the drilling crew, delivering on‑the‑job training, performance feedback and competency assurance.

Required profile

• Minimum High School or vocational qualification with at least 8 years of on‑shore drilling and work‑over experience, including roles such as Assistant Driller, Driller and Tool Pusher.
• Physical ability to climb, bend, twist and work outdoors in extreme weather; capable of day/night shift work.
• Valid Well Control certification (Well Sharp / IADC) and any ADES‑required training.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PC literate).
• Advanced mathematical calculations related to drilling and well control.
• Practical knowledge of drilling operations and drilling fluids handling.
