Senior Consultant - Geophysicist - Seismic Reservoir Characterization

About the role

Anton is seeking a Senior Consultant Geophysicist to lead seismic reservoir characterization projects in Kuwait. The role combines advanced rock‑physics modelling, seismic inversion, and AI‑driven interpretation to support exploration, appraisal and EOR activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and calibrate rock‑physics models linking elastic properties to porosity, permeability, lithology and fluid saturation.
• Lead seismic‑to‑well calibration workflows, including synthetic seismograms, wavelet extraction, phase analysis and time‑depth optimisation.
• Design and execute seismic inversion (model‑based, sparse‑spike, stochastic, geostatistical) and generate acoustic, elastic impedance and Vp/Vs volumes.
• Perform quantitative interpretation studies, machine‑learning facies classification and pre‑stack AVO/AVAz analysis.
• Conduct 4D seismic feasibility, processing and integration with dynamic reservoir simulation for monitoring and forecasting.
• Provide geophysical input to EOR programmes and lead multidisciplinary teams across geophysics, geology, petrophysics and reservoir engineering.

Required profile

• PhD in Geophysics, Geoscience or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum 25 years of upstream oil & gas experience with extensive seismic reservoir characterization.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary studies and strong communication skills in English.
• International experience with major E&P companies and a record of technical publications.

• Rock‑physics modelling and fluid substitution.
• Seismic‑to‑well calibration, synthetic seismogram generation and wavelet extraction.
• Seismic inversion techniques (model‑based, sparse‑spike, stochastic, geostatistical).
• Acoustic and elastic impedance, Vp/Vs calculation and quantitative interpretation.
• Machine‑learning, neural‑network facies classification and advanced analytical methods.
• 4D seismic monitoring, reservoir simulation integration and uncertainty quantification (Monte Carlo, geostatistical).
• Cloud computing, high‑performance computing (HPC) environments.
