TBM Operator / Pilot – International

About the role

We are seeking an experienced TBM Operator / Pilot to lead the successful drive of tunnel boring machines on international civil engineering projects. The role involves planning, assembling, maintaining and operating complex TBM systems while ensuring safety, quality and alignment with project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the TBM drive through effective planning and change management.
• Assemble, maintain and operate Herrenknecht and Iseki tunnel boring machines.
• Check plans and drawings, review site surveys and documentation.
• Mobilise systems to safe, functional layouts and set out detailed works according to contract drawings.
• Conduct inspections of TBM equipment to maintain optimal performance and safety.
• Monitor tunnel line, grade and alignment, ensuring tolerances are met.
• Maintain accurate records of jacking operations and excavation material handling.
• Participate in operations meetings and contribute to daily reports.
• Provide engineering support to resolve technical issues and ensure quality control compliance.

Required profile

• Solid experience on civil engineering projects, including major tunnelling works.
• Proven experience operating Herrenknecht or Iseki micro‑tunnel boring systems in variable ground conditions.
• In‑depth mechanical knowledge of both machine types, covering assembly, maintenance and disassembly.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, health & safety regulations and civil engineering legal requirements.
• High technical expertise demonstrated through problem‑solving and troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
