Chief Accountant Officer

About the role

ABYAT, the leading retail chain in the Middle East, is seeking a Chief Accountant Officer to lead its accounting function across Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The role oversees daily accounting operations, ensures compliance with IFRS and local regulations, and supports accurate financial reporting for a high‑volume retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, accruals, provisions and pre‑payments.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inter‑company transactions and other assigned accounting processes.
• Lead month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing cycles, preparing balance‑sheet and GL reconciliations.
• Oversee preparation of financial statements and management reports in line with IFRS and ABYAT policies.
• Ensure accurate inventory, COGS, stock adjustments and related provisions for the retail business.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and support cross‑functional finance issues.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on accounting professional with experience in high‑volume retail environments.
• In‑depth knowledge of IFRS, local accounting standards and financial controls.
• Proven ability to lead an accounting team and manage month‑end/year‑end processes.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
