Commis II – Asian & Japanese Cuisine

About the role

The kitchen of a vibrant restaurant in Bartone is looking for a Commis II to support the preparation of Asian and Japanese dishes. You will work closely with senior chefs, handling ingredients and ensuring consistent quality in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior chefs in preparing Asian and Japanese cuisine, including vegetables, seafood, meat, noodles, rice, sauces and marinades.
• Execute standard recipes and procedures for Japanese and Asian dishes.
• Prepare and maintain mise en place before and during service.
• Ensure proper portioning, presentation and consistency of all dishes.
• Handle and store fresh ingredients, especially seafood, according to safety standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the workstation.
• Follow instructions from the Sous Chef and senior kitchen staff.
• Support the team during busy periods to ensure timely food preparation.
• Minimise food waste and use ingredients efficiently.
• Adhere to all food safety, hygiene and kitchen safety procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Commis II specializing in Asian and Japanese cuisine.
• Basic knowledge of Asian and Japanese ingredients and cooking methods.
• Experience in restaurant or hospitality kitchens is preferred.
• Willingness to learn and develop culinary skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced kitchen environment.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
