Department Head – Retail Hypermarket

About the role

The Department Head is responsible for ensuring the quality, range and freshness of goods offered in the hypermarket, attracting and satisfying customers. The role also coordinates communication between merchandisers, sales teams and service providers within the assigned area.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement department strategies to maintain a competitive advantage.
• Manage supplier negotiations and internal promotions to strengthen commercial positioning.
• Oversee pricing policies, product assortment and profitability of department assets.
• Ensure effective stock management, including inventory control, replenishment and merchandise deliveries.
• Implement initiatives to reduce waste, shrinkage and out‑of‑stock situations.
• Supervise staff scheduling, lead and coach team members, and support performance management and succession planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management or a related field.
• Minimum 3 + years experience in the retail industry, with at least 2 + years in an operations or supervisory role.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, customer‑focused mindset and solid time‑management abilities.
