Department Head – Retail

About the role

The Department Head is responsible for ensuring the quality, range and freshness of goods offered in the hypermarket, attracting and satisfying customers. This role also coordinates communication between merchandisers, sales teams and service providers within the assigned area.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement department strategies to maintain a competitive advantage.
• Manage supplier negotiations, internal promotions and pricing policies.
• Oversee product assortment, profitability and stock management, including inventory control and replenishment.
• Implement initiatives to reduce waste, shrinkage and out‑of‑stock situations.
• Monitor security, hygiene and customer service standards across the department.
• Supervise staff scheduling, ensure operational efficiency and lead team development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management or related field.
• Minimum 3+ years retail experience and 2+ years in an operations or supervisory role.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with a customer‑focused mindset.
• Excellent time‑management abilities and general product knowledge.
