Hourly Paid English Teacher

About the role

The British Council is seeking an enthusiastic English Language Teacher to deliver high‑quality, engaging lessons in Kuwait. This full‑time, hourly‑paid position supports the Council’s mission of building cultural connections through language education.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver interactive English lessons tailored to diverse learner needs.
• Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback and encourage learner autonomy.
• Maintain British Council teaching standards and stay updated on ELT best practices.
• Support centre activities, assist with marketing initiatives and ensure excellent customer service.
• Complete administrative tasks and uphold safeguarding, data protection, and health‑and‑safety policies.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent.
• Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Certificate TESOL (or equivalent).
• Minimum two years post‑certificate teaching experience (≈1,200 hours).
• High proficiency in English (CEFR C2 or IELTS 8+ in all academic modules).
• Experience teaching the relevant age groups as specified by the centre.
