Red Switch Technician II (Top Secret Clearance)

About the role

The Red Switch Technician II supervises Red Switch Technician I staff and is responsible for operating and maintaining the Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) facility in line with DISA regulations. The role includes coordinating upgrades with Raytheon, DISA and local agencies, training technicians and military deployment teams, and briefing senior civilian and military management.

Key responsibilities

• Perform O&M of the Digital Small Switch (DSS-2A) and monitor trunk and circuit outages.
• Conduct trunk dialing checks each shift and execute preventive maintenance inspections.
• Create, update and back up databases using CD‑R media; download configuration updates.
• Fabricate custom interface cables using hand tools and wiring diagrams.
• Escort authorized personnel accessing the Red Switch and report outages to DISA GNOSC, NOC‑K, TCF and V2X management via AESMP ticketing.
• Organize system and facility upgrades with Raytheon, DISA and local agencies.

Required profile

• Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain host‑nation visa and driver’s license.
• Experience supervising technical personnel in a defense communications environment.
• Strong knowledge of DISA regulations, COMSEC, QC and performance evaluation processes.
• Ability to train and brief both civilian and military stakeholders.
