Senior Engineer – Process Safety Management (PSM)

About the role

The Senior Engineer will lead the implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) systems for upstream oil and gas operations. The role involves developing technical safety documentation, providing design support, and ensuring compliance with industry safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain PSM systems, including safety culture initiatives.
• Develop and manage technical safety project documentation such as TSE philosophies and AI‑PS principles.
• Conduct hazard analyses using HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, and QRA methodologies.
• Lead major hazard incident investigations and emergency preparedness planning.
• Create PSM communication tools, newsletters, presentations, and awareness campaigns.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Chemical, Petroleum, Electrical, Instrument Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of professional experience within an oil & gas operating company.
• Proven expertise in technical safety documentation, leak path reduction, hazardous area classification, and fire protection design.

• HAZOP, Bow‑Tie, and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
• Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) using PHAST software.
• Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis.
• Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Event Tree Analysis (ETA).
• Leak Path Reduction and Layout Optimization.
• Hazardous Area Classification and Fire Protection Design.
• ALARP demonstration and Safety Critical Elements identification.
• Pre‑Start‑Up Safety Review (PSSR) and PHSER.
