Senior Production Chemistry Engineer

About the role

The Senior Production Chemistry Engineer provides practical chemistry support for Mutriba wells, well testing, gathering and transportation facilities, and routine operations. The role focuses on identifying fluid‑related risks, recommending monitoring and treatment strategies, and coordinating specialist laboratory support when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a risk‑based production chemistry plan covering wells, flowlines, manifolds, and temporary test equipment.
• Review fluid, PVT, SARA, water and well‑test data to identify uncertainties and request additional analyses.
• Define operating limits, surveillance indicators and escalation triggers in collaboration with Production Engineering, Operations and Integrity teams.
• Coordinate safe sampling of sour pressurised fluids, manage laboratory testing, chain of custody and QA/QC.
• Recommend, optimise and monitor chemical treatment programmes such as corrosion inhibition, scale control, hydrate prevention and demulsification.
• Provide chemistry input to design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP studies, commissioning, start‑up and management‑of‑change activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline.
• 12–16 years of oil‑and‑gas experience, including at least 4 years of practical production‑chemistry, flow‑assurance or sour‑production work.
• Strong practical knowledge of sour‑fluid chemistry, corrosion, hydrates, scale, organic deposits, emulsions, solids, sampling and laboratory interpretation.
