Senior Production Chemistry Engineer – Oil & Gas

About the role

The Senior Production Chemistry Engineer provides practical chemistry support for Mutriba wells, well testing, gathering and transportation facilities, and routine operations. The role identifies fluid‑related risks, recommends monitoring and treatment strategies, and coordinates specialist or laboratory support when deeper expertise is required.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a risk‑based production chemistry plan covering wells, flowlines, manifolds, and temporary test equipment.
• Define sampling requirements, coordinate laboratory testing, and ensure traceability of results to well conditions.
• Recommend, design and monitor chemical treatment programs for corrosion, scale, hydrates, asphaltene/wax, emulsions and solids.
• Provide chemistry input to design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP studies, commissioning, start‑up and management‑of‑change activities.
• Support operations during start‑up, shutdown, restart, low‑flow, pigging and loss‑of‑injection scenarios and lead troubleshooting of complex cases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
• 12–16 years of oil‑and‑gas experience, including at least 4 years of practical production‑chemistry, flow‑assurance or sour‑production support.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of sour‑fluid chemistry, corrosion, hydrate formation, scale, organic deposits, emulsions and solids handling.
• Experience with sampling, laboratory interpretation, chemical‑treatment monitoring and compatibility assessments.
• Familiarity with H2S/CO2 service environments, carbonate reservoirs, high‑salinity water and multiphase transport.
• Exposure to greenfield commissioning, temporary well testing, chemical tendering and supplier oversight.
