Assistant Chief Engineer – Property Operations

About the role

The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the department head in overseeing budget, capital projects, preventative maintenance and energy conservation for a luxury hotel property. The role ensures the safety, security and protection of assets while driving guest and employee satisfaction through effective communication and training.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise distribution and tracking of repair work orders, ensuring timely and quality completion.
• Assist in planning, scheduling and evaluating preventative maintenance programs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical and life‑safety systems.
• Manage physical plant equipment including refrigeration, generators, fire pumps, water‑treatment and laundry systems.
• Coordinate additional services such as painting, renovations and equipment replacement.
• Maintain accurate logs, operate emergency generators and provide 24/7 emergency response.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED with 4 years engineering‑maintenance experience, or a 2‑year degree in Building/Construction/Engineering with 2 years experience.
• Technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical and plumbing systems.
