Contracts & Commercial Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Contracts & Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function for a top‑tier construction contractor in Kuwait. Reporting to the Chief Engineering Officer, you will own end‑to‑end commercial performance across the company’s project portfolio, from tender review to final account settlement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the contracts and commercial function, defining strategy to meet business and margin targets.
• Review tender documents, BOQs, specifications and contract conditions, identifying commercial and contractual risks.
• Negotiate and finalise client contracts, sub‑contracts, consultancy agreements and supplier terms.
• Oversee contract administration throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring notices and records protect entitlements.
• Track commercial performance metrics such as revenue, cost‑to‑complete, EFC and profitability.
• Prepare, negotiate and settle claims, variations and extensions of time, including prolongation and disruption.
• Maintain commercial risk registers and drive mitigation plans.
• Lead dispute resolution in collaboration with legal, handling mediation, arbitration and formal proceedings.
• Establish commercial procedures, internal controls, KPIs and executive‑level reporting.
• Coach and develop a team of contracts, commercial and quantity surveying professionals.

Required profile

• 12–15 years of contracts and commercial management experience in construction or EPC, including at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Strong command of FIDIC and other international contract forms with proven claims and dispute resolution track record.
• Experience on large‑scale building, infrastructure, industrial or mixed‑use projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law or a related field.
• Fluent in Arabic and English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP or Oracle.
• Advanced use of MS Office applications.
• In‑depth knowledge of FIDIC contract forms.
