Data Center Engineering Professional

About the role

Avar is expanding its Data Center Engineering team in Kuwait and is hiring experienced engineers for three full-time, site-based positions. The roles cover senior leadership of data center operations, and hands-on electrical and mechanical engineering of data center infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Senior Data Center Engineer: oversee daily data center operations and critical infrastructure performance; lead and coordinate Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and the on-ground Facilities Management team; monitor performance, maintenance, incidents, risks and compliance; review procedures, audits and technical documentation; support the DC Manager with site management and reporting, acting as relief when required.
• Data Center Engineer - Electrical: manage commissioning, testing and acceptance of electrical infrastructure; oversee preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance; monitor generators, UPS, switchgear, ATS/STS and PDUs; coordinate contractors, vendors, inspections and technical documentation.
• Data Center Engineer - Mechanical: manage commissioning, testing and acceptance of mechanical infrastructure; oversee preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance; monitor HVAC, chillers, cooling systems, pumps and controls; coordinate contractors, vendors, inspections and technical documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is mandatory; diploma holders without a relevant bachelor's degree will not be considered.
• Direct data center experience is essential; general facilities management or IT experience alone is not sufficient.
• Strong understanding of mission-critical infrastructure, commissioning and facility operations.
• Senior Engineer: minimum 7 years of engineering experience, including at least 5 in data centers or mission-critical facilities, with proven team leadership.
• Electrical / Mechanical Engineers: minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 in data center maintenance and operations, with hands-on experience in the discipline.
• A Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is an added advantage.
• Candidates currently based in Kuwait are strongly preferred; others in the GCC or internationally are welcome if willing to relocate.
