Data Center Technician III

About the role

Google's Hardware Operations team is seeking a Data Center Technician III to install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain cutting‑edge server hardware and software in third‑party data center facilities. You will work on physical infrastructure, from rack installation to complex network component configuration, ensuring high availability for Google services.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, test and maintain servers, racks, routers, switches, hubs, bridges and related networking protocols.
• Perform component‑level repairs on mechanical, electrical and server hardware.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot operating systems, computer hardware and Linux server environments.
• Participate in or lead small project teams for larger installations and develop contingency plans.
• Manually move and install equipment, adhering to safety and environmental standards.
• Support shift‑based schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Required profile

• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lb and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
• Willingness to work non‑standard hours and shift‑based schedules.
• Experience assembling mechanical or electrical systems and performing component‑level repairs.
• Experience diagnosing OS, computer hardware and server hardware issues.
• Familiarity with networking protocols and Linux operating systems.
