Driller – Supervise Drill Crew & Operations

About the role

The Driller is responsible for supervising the drill crew and managing all drilling‑operation activities to meet the operator’s program while ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and control drilling equipment, monitoring parameters and adjusting settings to optimise performance.
• Supervise the drill crew, assign tasks, and monitor performance throughout the shift.
• Report drilling progress, well conditions, safety incidents and any deviations to the Senior/Night Tool Pusher and client representatives.
• Maintain accurate drilling reports, equipment logs, pipe tallies, BHA/completion component records and critical fishing dimensions.
• Ensure space‑out drawings are correct, post‑jarring sheets are completed, and daily drilling reports are filed.
• Collaborate with well planners, engineers and other team members to develop drilling plans and strategies.
• Diagnose down‑hole problems, implement corrective measures and enforce ADES safety procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising a drill crew and managing drilling operations.
• Strong knowledge of well‑control procedures and ability to respond to kicks, pressure fluctuations and stuck‑pipe situations.
• Ability to read and verify technical drawings, pipe tallies and BHA specifications.
• Excellent record‑keeping skills for drilling reports, safety logs and equipment maintenance.

Required skills

• Operation of drilling controls and drilling package equipment.
• Monitoring of gauges and auxiliary drilling tools.
• Preparation and completion of post‑jarring sheets.
• Management of space‑out drawings and pipe tally documentation.
