Electrical Engineer – Smart Home & ELV Systems

About the role

We are looking for an Electrical Design & Smart Systems Engineer to lead the design and implementation of electrical, smart‑home and extra‑low‑voltage (ELV) solutions for residential and commercial projects in Kuwait. The role involves creating detailed drawings, performing calculations, preparing cost estimates, supervising installations and ensuring successful handover to clients.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys, assess client requirements and develop technical solutions.
• Prepare electrical designs and drawings (lighting, power distribution, earthing, panel schedules, single‑line diagrams).
• Perform load calculations, cable sizing, circuit‑breaker selection and voltage‑drop analysis.
• Design and program smart‑home and building‑automation systems for lighting, HVAC, curtains and scene control.
• Develop layouts and specifications for ELV systems such as CCTV, structured cabling, intercoms and access control, selecting devices and communication protocols (e.g., KNX).
• Produce bills of quantities, technical specifications, cost estimates and commercial proposals.
• Generate shop drawings, material submittals and as‑built documentation.
• Coordinate electrical and smart‑system designs with architectural and mechanical services.
• Supervise technicians and subcontractors, ensuring quality, safety and timely completion.
• Program, integrate, test, commission and troubleshoot smart systems.
• Obtain approvals from clients, consultants, suppliers and authorities.
• Prepare handover documentation, operating instructions and deliver client training.
• Support solar‑PV system design and monitoring integration when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of practical experience in electrical design, smart automation and ELV systems.
• Strong command of technical English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Valid Kuwait driving licence preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical calculation software; knowledge of Revit MEP is a plus.
• Hands‑on experience with smart‑system configuration, programming and commissioning.
• KNX certification or equivalent knowledge of KNX communication protocol.
• Ability to independently prepare drawings, BOQs, estimates and technical proposals.
• Familiarity with local electrical standards, safety requirements and authority regulations in Kuwait.
