Fiber Network Planner – Damascus Based

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Fiber Network Planner to join our team in Damascus, Syria. The role involves planning and optimizing DWDM and optical transport networks, ensuring capacity, protection, and diversity across backbone, metro, and inter‑site links.

Key responsibilities

• Develop DWDM/optical transport plans based on traffic demand, service requirements, and IP/MPLS needs.
• Design and validate optical paths, protection schemes, ROADM/OADM usage, and power budgets.
• Review existing transport inventory, fibre routes, and equipment utilisation.
• Coordinate with fibre planners, IP/MPLS planners, operations, vendors, and implementation teams.
• Produce implementation‑ready documentation, including wavelength allocation, equipment requirements, and migration plans.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to capacity exhaustion, route diversity, optical impairments, and inaccurate records.
• Ensure compliance with vendor engineering guidelines and documentation standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Telecom or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in DWDM/OTN/optical transport planning or engineering.
• Fluent in English and Arabic.
• Relevant vendor certifications and optional MEF/Carrier Ethernet or OTN training.

• DWDM and OTN planning
• Wavelength planning, ITU‑T grids, Flex Grid, Super Channels
• ROADM/OADM design, CDC‑F ROADM
• Transponders, muxponders, protection schemes (OLP, ASON, G.8032)
• SyncE, IEEE 1588v2 (PTP)
• Optical power budget calculations and fibre impairment analysis
• Experience with major optical vendor NMS/EMS and inventory systems
