Field Test Engineer

About the role

The GE Gas Power Engineering division in India is looking for a Field Test Engineer to support regional customer field tests, primarily in the Middle East region. The engineer works at customer sites covering instrumentation and test data collection, runs material analysis according to lab protocols and produces reports.

Key responsibilities

• Execute regional field tests and laboratory test support
• Set up instrumentation, route cables, interface data acquisition equipment and run software at customer sites, keeping traceable documentation
• Act as point of contact for field sample test procedures and update them to international standards
• Design and build lab test facilities, test rigs and instrumentation systems, and operate the relevant test software
• Periodically calibrate equipment and maintain it according to ISO procedures
• Report test results and daily site activities to stakeholders
• Follow safety, EHS guidelines, help with audits, keep logs and close open issues

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electro-mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Manufacturing, Material, Instrumentation or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
• At least 2 years of experience in field and/or lab testing, instrumentation or testing procedures
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to customer sites in the GCC and globally
• Legal right to work in the GCC without company sponsorship
• Fluency in English

Required skills

• MS Office
• Knowledge of sensors, their principles and applications
• Desirable: LabVIEW or programming languages such as C++ or Python
• Desirable: knowledge of lab quality certification and documentation, 5S, and use of AI tools
