About the role
The Fire Lieutenant will serve as the crew‑chief for a fire apparatus stationed in Kuwait, leading emergency response operations to protect lives, property, and mission‑critical assets. The role combines hands‑on firefighting, incident command, training, fire‑safety education, and coordination with multinational and military personnel.
Key responsibilities
- Direct and participate in firefighting, hazmat, technical rescue, and aircraft accident responses according to orders from senior supervisors.
- Plan, conduct, and evaluate training drills, on‑the‑job training and firefighter certification programs.
- Perform fire protection inspections, risk‑management surveys, and develop pre‑fire plans for facilities.
- Assign and oversee station maintenance tasks, equipment cleaning, and apparatus readiness.
- Prepare and submit reports on fire runs, inspections, training activities, and incident outcomes.
- Lead fire safety education programs for soldiers, community members, and the public.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA 1500 fitness standards, NFPA 1582 medical program, and DoD Firefighter Certification requirements.
- Manage fire station logistics, equipment inventories, and coordination with multinational staff.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent with at least two years of paid firefighter experience.
- Associate degree in Fire Science preferred.
- Current certifications such as Fire Officer I, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, and Emergency Medical Responder (CPR).
- Ability to meet NFPA 1500 fitness standards, pass drug testing, and undergo background investigation.
- Proficiency in English communication, both verbal and written.
- Willingness to work extended hours, nights, weekends and operate in hot, dusty conditions.
- Valid driver’s license for fire apparatus operation.
