Health Safety Environment Engineer

About the role

The Health Safety Environment (HSE) Engineer is responsible for implementing and monitoring HSE policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards, client requirements, and regulatory legislation. This role supports a safe working environment, minimizes operational risks, and drives continuous improvement across oil‑and‑gas projects.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor HSE management systems across project sites.
• Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, client requirements, and local regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near‑misses and prepare detailed investigation reports with preventive measures.
• Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and HSE awareness training for employees and contractors.
• Monitor the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and enforce safe work practices.
• Review and approve Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Risk Assessments (RA), and Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) documentation.
• Oversee environmental compliance, including waste management, pollution prevention, and protection initiatives.
• Maintain HSE records, reports, statistics, and documentation.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders on HSE matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Environmental, etc.).
• Professional HSE certifications such as NEBOSH, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, CSP, CEP, or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of relevant HSE experience, with at least two years in the Oil & Gas sector.
• Experience on major EPC, construction, maintenance or industrial projects is an advantage.

Required skills

• Preparing and reviewing Job Safety Analyses, Risk Assessments and Permit‑to‑Work documentation.
• Ensuring compliance with PPE usage and safe work practices.

• Maintaining HSE records, reports and statistics.
