Junior Backend Engineer

About the role

The Junior Backend Engineer will join the V‑Thru platform team to design, build, and maintain reliable backend services and APIs. Working under senior engineers, you will deliver well‑scoped features while growing your technical expertise and ownership.

Key responsibilities

• Implement assigned features, enhancements, and bug fixes across backend domains, following coding conventions.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using PHP or Python.
• Work with MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, RabbitMQ, and Docker‑based development environments, leveraging Doctrine ORM/ODM where appropriate.
• Write unit and integration tests; treat test coverage as a completion criterion.
• Debug issues, identify root causes, resolve them, and add regression tests.
• Address code‑review feedback and static‑analysis findings promptly.
• Follow team standards for code style, type safety, exception handling, caching, security, and data privacy.

Required profile

• Foundational computer‑science knowledge (data structures, algorithms, complexity).
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle: write, test, review, and ship code.
• Familiarity with common design patterns and principles (DRY, SOLID, separation of concerns).
• Comfort with object‑oriented programming and ability to learn new languages quickly.
• Basic knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL data modeling.
• Proficiency with Git and automated testing practices.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, curiosity, and adaptability.
• Clear written and verbal communication in English.
