Kitchen Technician

About the role

The Kitchen Technician is responsible for maintaining all commercial kitchen equipment in a hotel environment. You will ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and complies with food‑safety and occupational‑safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all kitchen appliances, inspecting for wear, leaks, noise, vibration, and malfunction.
• Lubricate moving parts, replace worn components, tighten connections, and verify equipment calibration.
• Diagnose and repair faults promptly, handling electrical, mechanical, gas, and steam issues.
• Replace defective motors, switches, thermostats, heating elements, contactors, valves, bearings, belts, and other parts.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work completion reports, and update the hotel’s maintenance management system.
• Coordinate with suppliers for major repairs that require specialized expertise.
• Test safety devices, emergency stops, and protective interlocks before returning equipment to service.

Required profile

• Diploma or technical certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, Refrigeration, or Industrial Maintenance.
• Trade certification in commercial kitchen equipment maintenance is a plus.
• 2–3 years of experience as a Kitchen Technician in a hotel, commercial kitchen, or food‑production facility.
• Experience with commercial kitchen and refrigeration systems; hospitality experience preferred.

Required skills

• Preventive and corrective maintenance of kitchen equipment.
• Electrical, mechanical, gas, and steam system troubleshooting.
• Component replacement (motors, switches, thermostats, heating elements, contactors, valves, bearings, belts).
• Equipment inspection, lubrication, calibration, and safety‑device testing.
• Maintenance record keeping and compliance with manufacturer recommendations.
