Lead Applications Engineer – Drilling & Completion Fluid

About the role

The Lead Applications Engineer – Drilling & Completion Fluid will join Baker Hughes’ Well Construction team to ensure flawless execution of fluid‑related jobs. You will be involved from pre‑planning through execution and post‑job analysis, delivering technical job programs that meet client objectives and contract terms.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with the Manage the Job Cycle (MtJC) process.
• Collaborate with Service Delivery Coordinators and sales to understand client objectives and commercial terms.
• Perform offset‑job analysis and engineering modelling calculations to assess application hazards.
• Design job programs, risk‑mitigation and contingency plans that maximize revenue and future assignments.
• Document calculations, simulations, and plan revisions for audit and team visibility.
• Provide on‑demand technical support and on‑call coverage during job execution.
• Participate in incident investigations, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Advise on product‑improvement opportunities for recurring failures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in drilling and completion fluids.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, influencing and planning abilities.
• Willingness to be on call outside normal business hours and travel to rig sites or customer facilities.
• Understanding of P/L and technical job‑planning requirements.
• Excellent communication, presentation, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
