Lead Controls Field Engineer

About the role

The Lead Controls Field Engineer is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of control and instrumentation systems on gas and steam turbine projects. This on‑site role provides technical direction to customers, coordinates resources, and ensures all work is performed safely and in line with contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage on‑site controls and instrumentation activities during installation, commissioning and maintenance of upgrades or new installations.
• Oversee installation, diagnostics and troubleshooting of control systems such as Mark V, Mark VI, Mark VIE, Cimplicity and HMIs.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers on OEM packaged products.
• Interpret PLC ladder logic, modify control constants, and adjust software sequencing.
• Set up and modify hardware/software for gas and steam turbine control systems.
• Prepare field service jobs, coordinate with project/service managers and ensure accurate timesheets with customer signatures.
• Supervise cable laying, meggering and connections, and deliver on‑site training as needed.
• Produce internal and external reports, attend technical meetings and ensure compliance with EHS guidelines.
• Travel frequently (75%+), including offshore and work in restricted countries, and be available for holidays, weekends and overtime.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in controls field engineering for power generation equipment.
• Proven ability to manage resources, plan installations and meet contractual obligations.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work in offshore or restricted environments.
• Commitment to safety, quality and customer satisfaction.
