Lead Estimator - Oil & Gas Projects

About the role

Worley, a global energy, chemicals and resources company, is looking for a Lead Estimator to coordinate estimating activities on assigned projects. The role covers all phases of work, from front-end engineering through to closeout, and leads a small team of 1 to 4 qualified estimators.

Key responsibilities

• Develop estimating procedures for modifications and additions to onshore and offshore facilities, including alternative solution comparisons in the pre-engineering phase.
• Prepare material takeoffs on complex projects, review them for accuracy, and prepare or supervise estimates from engineering deliverables to the required accuracy.
• Receive engineering estimates from the lead/project engineer, validate and verify them against norms, previous estimates, outcomes and vendor prices, and write rationale statements on risks and weaknesses.
• Monitor estimating performance against contract KPIs and recommend improvements.
• Train, develop and assign estimators, review their work, and help prepare schedules for estimates.
• Review contracts and modifications to define scope, interface with clients, and serve on the Quality Improvement Team.
• Maintain historical cost data and construction methods, and complete other duties as needed.

Required profile

• BA/BS degree or diploma in Science, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10 years of total post-graduation experience.
• Minimum 5 years in the oil and gas / petrochemical industry.
• Minimum 5 years in a similar role and 5 years of hands-on cost estimation.

Required skills

• Knowledge of home office services, field indirect and craft labor.
• Familiarity with project controls software such as DMCS.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
